AI search visibility
People increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI for product recommendations instead of scrolling results pages. Formula Works engineers supplement websites to be found, read and cited by those AI systems as well as by traditional search — an honest edge, not a guaranteed ranking.
What AI-visibility engineering means
AI assistants recommend brands they can understand and verify. That takes clean, semantic, server-rendered pages; structured data that spells out who you are and what you sell; direct answers to the questions buyers actually ask; and explicit access for AI crawlers. Most supplement sites have none of this.
What we implement
- Schema.org structured data: organisation, services, products, FAQs and portfolio entities
- Answer-ready content — question-formatted headings with direct, factual answers
- Explicitly welcoming AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and others) alongside Googlebot
- An llms.txt machine-readable summary of your brand, range and pricing
- Fast, static-first builds (Astro) whose full content is readable without JavaScript
We practise what we sell
This website is built exactly this way — inspect the source. Structured data on every page, direct-answer FAQs, named AI crawlers welcomed, and every page server-rendered.
Questions
Can you guarantee my brand will show up in ChatGPT or rank on Google?
No one honestly can — anyone who guarantees it is selling you something. What we do is make your site maximally discoverable and citable: fast, structured, factual and readable by both search engines and AI assistants. We engineer the best possible chance.
What does the AI-visibility add-on cost?
It's £2,500 on top of the core build, and includes the structured data, answer-engineered content and technical foundations described above.
What is GEO — generative engine optimisation?
GEO (sometimes called AEO, answer engine optimisation) is the practice of making your brand findable and citable by AI answer engines — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI features — the way SEO makes it findable in classic search results. The foundations overlap heavily; GEO adds entity schema, direct-answer content and explicit AI-crawler access on top.
Do people really buy supplements through AI recommendations?
A growing and measurable share of buyers now ask an assistant "what should I take for X" or "best brand for Y" instead of scrolling search results — and referral traffic from AI tools is trackable in your analytics. The share is still smaller than Google today; the point is that the brands being cited now are building a position that compounds.
How is optimising for AI different from normal SEO?
The foundations are shared — fast, crawlable, well-structured pages help both. The differences: AI systems lean harder on structured data and entity relationships, they quote direct factual answers rather than ranking pages, and they use their own crawlers which your site must explicitly allow. We do both disciplines together, never one at the expense of the other.
Should I block AI crawlers to protect my content?
You can — but a blocked crawler cannot cite you, so blocking is choosing invisibility in AI answers. For a brand that wants to be recommended, we generally advise welcoming search-focused AI crawlers; whether to allow model-training crawlers is a separate policy decision we'll walk you through honestly.
How do I know if AI tools can actually read my site?
Two quick tests: view your page source and check the real content is present in the HTML rather than assembled by JavaScript, and run your pages through a structured-data validator. Many supplement sites fail both. We audit this as the first step of every AI-visibility engagement.
How long does it take to see results?
Honestly: indexing changes take days to weeks, while authority — being the brand AI engines cite consistently — builds over months of accumulating content and corroboration. Anyone quoting you a guaranteed timeline is guessing. What we control is making every technical and content signal right from day one.
Can you retrofit AI visibility onto my existing website?
Usually yes. We audit what your current platform allows — structured data, server rendering, crawler access — and implement everything it supports. If the platform itself is the blocker, we will tell you before you spend money on optimisation it cannot deliver.
What is an llms.txt file?
A machine-readable summary of your business — who you are, what you sell, your pricing, your pages — placed at yourdomain.com/llms.txt for AI crawlers, the way sitemaps serve search engines. It is an emerging convention rather than a ranking guarantee, costs nothing to maintain, and this site runs one.
Does structured data guarantee rich results or AI citations?
No — schema makes you eligible and unambiguous, not guaranteed. Google says as much in its documentation. What structured data reliably does is remove any doubt about who you are, what you sell and what your pages answer — and ambiguity is the enemy of being cited.
